Shantu holistic education consultancy and Buddha Baby parenting courses are dedicated to improving infant, child and adult well-being.  This small and distinctive business was originally set up as a culmination of my interests in holistic approaches to health and well-being and draws on over twelve years experience in education. My training and practice as a primary class teacher, Healthy Schools Advisor (primary PSHE education), massage in schools instructor, infant massage teacher, baby yoga teacher and holistic massage therapist means that I have a unique wealth of knowledge, skills and understanding.  I work with individuals, families and schools to:

  • promote holistic approaches to health and well-being
  • demonstrate the benefits of holistic education
  • create 'space' for little moments of peace, quiet and calm

My main areas of work are:

  • primary education consultancy - currently working with Healthy Schools, Islington (primary PSHE education and happy classrooms)
  • parenting courses - Buddha Baby - massage, music and yoga (for parents and their babies)
  • holistic massage (head, face and feet)

It is my privilege and great joy to bring these traditional, simple and effective ideas to you, to enjoy and benefit from.

The meaning of Shantu ~ although the word Shantu has multiple historical, cultural and religious meanings, these all seem to be concerned with peace, calm and quiet (as is its meaning in the Bengali language).  Shantu has been found in ancient Sanskrit texts and has associations with Buddhism.  In Hinduism, Shantu is known as one of the thirteen rasnas (emotions) and means ‘complete quietude’

Holistic ~ considering the whole being, the idea that everything is connected and that if we address one area it has an effect on another, the coming together as one

Well-being ~ feeling well in your own being; your physical, emotional and spiritual self, having self-confidence and self-esteem, feeling good about oneself and others, contentment

‘Sally is an excellent teacher; thoughtful and thought provoking.’
