Shantu is a small, distinctive company founded by Sally Martin - a primary school teacher, baby massage instructor, massage in schools instructor and holistic massage therapist.
Shantu means 'absolute quietude'. It's a Hindu word; one of the 13 rasnas or emotions and is linked to Buddhism.
In today's busy world, our hectic lifestyles mean that it can be very difficult to find absolute quietude. Approaches offered by Shantu help you find ways of achieving little moments of calm and quiet.
I have been a primary school teacher for 9 years, working in the London boroughs of Redbridge and Tower Hamlets. I currently work at Halley Primary School, Tower Hamlets as a class teacher part time. I have particular interests in PSHE and Healthy Schools.
I have always been interested in alternative and holistic therapies and continued to develop my skills and interests whilst teaching. I trained in both Indian Head Massage and Natural Lift Facial Massage.
A few years ago I realised I could combine the two interests and I started to research holistic approaches to the well-being of the child in the classroom. At this point I discovered the Massage In Schools Programme and later Baby Massage.
Shantu is a combination of my interests.
